Herbert A. FRIESEN

FRIESEN, Herbert A. -- age 82, of Grand Blanc, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Genesys Regional Medical Center after an accidental fall. Cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial celebration of his life 2:00 PM, Sunday, August. 4, 2013 at the Grand Blanc Senior Center, 12632 Pagels Dr. in Grand Blanc. Herbert was born June 13, 1931 in Detroit, the son of the late Abraham & Helen Friesen. Herb earned a degree in mechanical engineering at Lawrence Institute of Technology in 1953. He met Louise Peterson at a square dance in 1950, and they were married August 30, 1952. Herb lived in Warren, Michigan until 1961, and then moved with his family to Utah and later to Alabama, working as an aerospace engineer. Herb later returned to Michigan in 1970 to teach at Mott Community College, from where he retired in 1995. He always enjoyed water sports, snow skiing and being with family and friends and more recently loved playing bridge, going to estate sales and bonding with his grandchildren while teaching them the value of knowing how to repair cars. He is survived by his wife Louise, children Laura (Bruce Green), Lynn Davis (David), Eric (Linda), brother Wally (Kay), sister-in-law Virginia Conrad (Orvil), daughter-in-law Cathy Cooper, grandchildren Fletcher, Libby, Eli, Devin, Ben, Brooke, Becky and John, as well as four step-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and special friends. He was predeceased by his parents and eldest son, Mark. If desired, donations may be made to the Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
