Homer L. Braddock

October 12, 1916 — June 15, 2003

BRADDOCK, Homer L.  Age 86, of Swartz Creek, died Sunday, June 15, 2003 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Interment will be held at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery where veterans honors will be preformed under the auspices of VFW Post # 4005. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-9 PM Tuesday and from 11 AM until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Swartz Creek Lions Club. Mr. Braddock was born October 12, 1916 in Paragould, AR, the son of Henry Leo and Nora (Mayberry) Braddock. He was a graduate of Flushing High School. Mr. Braddock married Gertrude E. Schultheis on June 19, 1943 in Pamona, CA and she preceded him in death on November 26, 1992. Mr. Braddock lived in Swartz Creek most of his life, he also resided in Clayton Township and Burton for several years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a Master Sergeant in the European Theater of Operations, 544th Heavy Maintenance Field Ordinance Company. His battles and campaigns included Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe, where he was awarded the European  African  Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with one Silver Star. Mr. Braddock retired from Sears after 40 years of service. He was a member of Flushing F & AM # 223, Swartz Creek Sportsman and Conservation Club, Swartz Creek Lions Club, and VFW Post # 4005. Surviving are: brother-in-law, Edgar and wife, Fay Schultheis of Swartz Creek; nephews and niece, Gary Schultheis of Swartz Creek, Scott and wife, Tina Schultheis of Midland, Carol and husband, Gary Higgins of Corunna Gerald and wife, Joan Moores of Lennon;  great-nieces and nephew, Kelly Higgins and Eric Higgins, both of Corunna, Anna Schultheis and Emily Schultheis of Midland. He was also preceded in death by: his sister, Ruth Moores in 1943. Friends may share their online condolences with the family at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
