Irene Agnes HUNT

HUNT, Irene Agnes - Age 92, of Fenton, died October 18, 2013 at University of Michigan Hospital. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday October 21 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton. Interment in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-7 PM Sunday with a rosary following at 7 PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Those desiring may make contributions to Heartbeat of Greater Flint or St. Judes Children Research Hospital. Irene was born December 6, 1920 in Detroit the daughter of Anna (Sibo) and Barney Shoemacker. Irene was married to Robert Hunt at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in 1941. They were married for 72 years and they had seven children together. She was a graduate of Eastern Michigan University and employed as a teacher a State Road School in Fenton until her retirement in 1986. Irene was a lifelong member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Fenton. Irene was an avid gardener and golfer. Surviving are: her husband Robert Hunt; three daughters, Bernadine (Lawrence who preceded her in death in 2002) Saxe, Bethany Whetstone, Berniece (Frank) Starrs; three sons, Richard (Sherry) Hunt, Dr. Ronald (Jodie) Hunt M.D., and Rodney (Laura) Hunt; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Irene was preceded in death by her son Robert Hunt Jr.; and three sisters, Dorothy LaPrarie, Jeannie Peabody, and Berniece Shoemacker.
