WALTERS, Jack E. WA8UXN Age 94 of Fenton, died Saturday September 27 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday, October 10, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 806 Main St., Fenton, Pastor Dean Dumbrille officiating. Interment in Flint Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 1-4PM and 6-9PM Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel; 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Those desiring may make contributions to the Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. Jack was born on October 9, 1919 in Detroit and was a graduate of Lawrence Tech University. He married Leonora (Best) on February 22, 1941 in Bowling Green, Ohio. He served in World War II aboard the USS Waukesha. Jack moved his family to Fenton in 1952 when General Motors transferred him to the Coldwater Rd Ternstedt plant, later retiring in 1974 as a Senior Tool Engineer. Jack was a Ham Radio operator and held many offices in the Firebirds, GCARA and FAARA radio clubs. Jack and his wife enjoyed camping and shared it with their family. He made the best popcorn, and was known for his quiet sense of humor. Later in life he enjoyed Navy reunions with shipmates throughout the country. He will truly be missed by his family and friends. Surviving are children: Caroline (Walter) Routhier of Fenton, Thomas (Carolyn) Walters of Wichita Falls, TX, Linda (Gregory) Hathaway of Fenton; son-in-law and daughter-in-law Kenneth and Cathy Turnbow of Fenton; grandchildren Danielle (Robert) Peck, Brett (Amy) Routhier, Dr. Denise (Hans) Routhier- Koenigseder, Daniel and Andrew Walters, Tammy (David) Atkinson, Joan Turnbow, William (Alicia) Hoffman, Angela (Chris) Common and Kayce Hathaway; great-grandchildren Spencer and Andrew Atkinson, Brynn and Avery Routhier, Graham and Elise Peck, Summer and Hunter Hoffman, Macy and Hadley Common; sister Betty Baker; many nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years Leonora; daughter Juanita Turnbow; parents William and Minnie Walters. The family would like to thank Pastor Dean Dumbrille for his years of in home ministry, Avalon Hospice for their loving care, and to the special care-givers who became part of the family.
