Jacob Gayari

GAYARI, Jacob "Jake" F. - Age 92, of Clio, died Saturday, December 31, 2016. Per Jake's wishes' cremation has taken place. A memorial mass will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday January 5 at SS Charles and Helena Catholic Church, 230 E. Vienna St., Clio. Fr. Kenneth Caughlin Celebrant. Family will receive friends from 10 AM until time of mass at the church on Thursday. Military honors to follow mass at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Those desiring may make contributions to SS Charles and Helena Catholic Church. Jacob was born June 10, 1924 in Sebewaing, the son of the late Christ and Louise (Funk) Gayari. He was united in marriage to Theresa D. Royer on May 10, 1952 in Pigeon. He retired as a supervisor from General Motors, Buick Motor Division in 1980 after 32 years of service. Mr. Gayari was a World War II Veteran. He served three campaigns as a Tec 4th combat medic in Africa and Italy in the 88th division (The Blue Devils). Mr. Gayari was also a member of SS. Charles and Helena Catholic Church in Clio. Jake loved fishing and hunting with his grandchildren in the Upper Peninsula and enjoyed gardening. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Theresa Gayari; sons, Jacob (Judy) Gayari of Clio, Jeffery Gayari of Clio, Greg (Lisa) Gayari of Flushing; four grandchildren, Michelle, Jeremy, Vince, and Brandon; two great grandchildren, Duncan and Zane. Jake is also survived by his sister, Susan Gunsell and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Schumacher, Dorothy Uhl and Elizabeth Naffin; three brothers, Peter, Martin and Chris Gayari.
