James Sherwood AKE

AKE, James Sherwood - age 69, of Fenton, formerly of Canton, OH, died Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Genesys Health Park. Services will be held 11 AM Monday, September 30, 2013 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton with Pastor Dale Swihart officiating. Visitation will be held 2-5 and 6-9 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Fenton First Presbyterian Church or the American Heart Association. Mr. Ake was born August 18, 1944 in Canton, OH, the son of Sherwood and Mary Jane (Kenan) Ake. He received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Michigan. Mr. Ake was a prosecuting attorney with the Genesee County Prosecutor's office for many years, retiring in 1990. After retirement he taught law at Oakland Community College and the Flint Police Department. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, and an avid University of Michigan football fan. Surviving are: wife, Lois of Fenton; daughter, Kimberly Ake of Madison, WI; son, Kevin Ake and wife, Megan of Livonia; granddaughter, Charlotte Ake; niece and nephew Mary Ipson and Chaz Ipson; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Emily Ipson. Friends may share an online tribute on the obituary page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
