James Cerne

Cerne, James - Age 83. of Fenton, passed away peacefully with family by his side on March 20, 2024. Burial, with Military Honors, will be held 10 AM Tuesday, March 26 at Great Lakes National Cemetery located 4200 N. Belford Rd. Holly. Jim was born August 1, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Ignac and Tresa (Deskovitc) Cerne.  He was a St. Theresa Catholic High School graduate. Jim proudly served his country in The United States National Guard.  He married Sharon Rae Young in Westland, Michigan on March 11, 1966. Jim worked for General Motors as a Senior Draftsman for 30 years before retiring in 1991. He enjoyed woodworking, and gardening. Jim also enjoyed baking bread on a daily basis, many family and friends enjoyed this daily ritual. He is survived by his wife, Sharon of Fenton; daughter, Kim Cerne of Fenton. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Ignac and Tresa Cerne; siblings, Juanita Varley, and Josephine Zacharski.
