James Alexander DODDER

DODDER, James Alexander Age 76, died February 4, 2014. James was the son of Alec and Iva Dodder, born on June 29, 1937. He served in the Navy 4 years. Married to Wilda McAndrew on July 2, 1959 then moved to Denver. They lived there 4 years before moving back to Michigan. James worked for Fisher Body and Buick City then retired in 1995. Wilda and James had 2 sons and 1 daughter. During his life James had many hobbies. First, there was horses for 20 years, an avid rider, James loved trail rides. He started a 4-H club with horses working with kids. His next love was sailing on the Great Lakes with his 36 foot sloop; in which he was active for 20 years. He always had many "sea stories" to tell, he could lie with the best of them. His next and last adventure was Beekeeping. He founded the Mid-Michigan Beekeepers Club. It grew from about 5 people to over 60 when he passed. Surviving are: wife Wilda; Son, Scott and wife Tammy; Paul; Valerie Collings; Ken Frantz; Grand children: Bronson, Nicole, Nicholas, Alex; Sister-in-law, Flo House; and last but not least, Ethel, his beloved English Bull Dog. Jim will be missed by many. A memorial service will be held at Community of Christ 2120 Wilmar, Burton MI, 48509, February 12 at 2 PM followed by a dinner at the church.
