James Eugene Shaw

SHAW, James Eugene - Age 89 of Grand Blanc, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025. A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 PM Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at the Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center located at 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc. The funeral will also be live streamed and can be viewed via the link at the base of this obituary. Pastor David Leineke will officiate and burial will follow the funeral at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive guests at the funeral home from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Monday, August 4, 2025 and on Tuesday from 12:30 PM until the time of the service. James was born in Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan to the late Douglas and Vera (Duclon) Shaw. He attended Owosso High School. James married his bride in March 1955, Marilyn Haslock. He lived in Grand Blanc for 65 years and was active in the Grand Blanc Athletic Booster Club, Cub Scouts Troop 235, Boy Scouts Troop 335 for over 50 years. James also was a member of First Congregational United Church of Grand Blanc. His greatest joy was to be with his family and to dance. He began his career with General Motors where he dedicated 32 years of service before retiring in 1986. Throughout his life, James was a true altruist with the Boy Scouts of America where he accomplished many achievements and received numerous awards, to include the "Silver Beaver". James is leaving behind his legacy which was always put family first.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Marilyn; children, Brock (Kim) Shaw, Judy Shaw Wildermuth, Tim Shaw, Lynda Shaw, James (Starla) Shaw, Cathy (Cory) Niemitalo; grandchildren, Cody (Paul) Cally, Kyle, Taylor (Doug), Tyler (James), Shannon (Sam), Nikole; great-grandchildren, Aarin, Alayna, Norah, Jaxson, Savana, and Klara: siblings, Julius (JoAnne); cousin, Diane; also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents; six siblings; granddaughter, Julianne Shaw; daughter-in-law; Sue Shaw.
