James Jones

JONES , James  "Jay" - Age 77, of Flint, died February 15, 2020. Per Jay's wishes cremation has taken place.  A memorial service will be held 2PM Saturday, February 22, at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint.  Visitation will be held 12PM until time of service. Jay was born September 10, 1942 in Tulsa, OK, the son of Ralph and Kathryn (Jones) Jones. Mr. Jones was the son of a Naval Chief and lived with his family in California, Washington, Guam and eventually settled in Flint. Jay graduated from Southwestern High School in 1962. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy stationed on the USS Galveston from 1962-1964 and in the reserves from 1964-1966.  Jay retired from General Motors Buick Plant in 2006, with 41.5 years of service.  Jay was an avid Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions fan, he enjoyed college football and was a fan of Notre Dame, Michigan State and Navy Colleges. His last request is that everyone in attendance would wear their favorite sports attire, minus of course ANY  U of M gear.   Surviving are: son, Michael (Annie) Jones of FL; daughter, Jennifer (Larry) Birmingham of Flint; grandchildren, Kayla, Keith Jr., Derek, Kaden, Gunnar and Dana; great-granddaughter, Mila Elizabeth; sisters, Pamela Keener of Flushing, Penny (Ken) Clontz of Oscoda and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by both his parents and brother, Robert Jones.
