LALE, James Jay - Age 63 of Corunna, formerly of Flint, died Sunday July 21, 2013. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday, July 25, 2013 at St. Michael Catholic Church - Maple Grove, 17994 Lincoln Rd., New Lothrop. Rev. Fr. Rick Varner celebrant. Family and friends will gather at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of service, with the rosary being prayed at 10:00 AM. Those desiring may make contributions to Right to Life, Alzheimer's Association or Parkinson's Foundation. Mr. Lale was born October 2, 1949 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Chalmer and Mary Lale. Jim spent the last 30 years teaching in San Antonio, Texas. He was a graduate of Divine Heart Seminary in 1967 and later went on to receive a B.A. at the University of Michigan, Flint, and M.S.W. at the University of Houston, Houston, TX. Mr. Lale was an elementary teacher. He had a devotion to the Blessed Mother and was a strong advocate of Right to Life. He was a man of God, with a gentle and kind heart. Jim is survived by his father, Chalmer; five siblings, sister Sandra and Henry Smeets of Sun City, Arizona, sister Sue and Dennis DeMers of Corunna, sister Joan of Burton, brother John and Kelli of Sterling Heights, and brother Thomas and Brenda of Linden. He had many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary I. Lale, and brother in law, Douglas Fox. The family would like to thank niece, Sally Stitt, for her care and kindness for the past 3 years as well as Durand Senior Care and Gentiva Hospice for the kindness.
