RYNEARSON, Janice Eleanor (Wright) - Age 77, of Fenton, passed away to her loving savior, Jesus Christ, Tuesday, February 8, 2011. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday, February 12, 2011 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with Fr. David Harvey celebrating. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton, Thursday from 7-9 PM, Friday from 1-4 and 6-9 PM and at Church Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of Mass. A vigil service will be held at the funeral home 7:00 PM Friday. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Janice Rynearson Memorial Fund. Jan was born September 23, 1933 in Gaines, the daughter of Mason A. and Fredricka (Staudenmaier) Wright. She was a graduate of Fenton High School and received her journalism degree from Eastern Michigan University. She married Richard M. Rynearson May 28, 1959 in Fenton and he preceded her in death February 16, 1975. Jan worked for many newspapers including the Detroit News, Toledo Blade, the Farm Journal, the Fenton Independent and Tri-County Times. She also served as Editor of the Durand Express for three years and was News Editor for the then-local radio station WFEN for three years. Jan was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister, active in the St. John Education Commission, Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP) and the St. John Applefest. Her culinary skills included winning the St. John apple pie baking contest in 1990. She also was a member of the Fenton Beautification Commission, Charter Member and President of Zeta Child Study Club, member and officer of the Fenton Dibbleville Questors, Fenton V.F.W. Auxiliary, Flint Writers Club, officer of F.A.R.R, member and officer of Junior Achievement Board of Greater Fenton, member of the Sesquicentennial Committee and Fenton High School Alumni Association. Jan was a key member of the Fenton Freedom Festival Parade for 19 years, serving on occasion as co-chairman and was the 2009 Grand Marshall. Surviving are: 3 sons, Steven and wife Vicki of Fenton, Douglas and wife Jennifer of Fenton and Vincent of Fenton; 2 granddaughters, Angel and Brianna; fiance, John Vincent Harrison of Fenton; niece, Jayna (Dale) Clark-Klatzker of Rhode Island; nephew, David (Helen) Clark of Saline; several other nieces, nephews and other relatives.
