Janis Kay Bock (Wirth) 88, of Fenton, passed away January 8, 2026. She was born July 26, 1937 in Bay City, the daughter of Louis Wirth, Jr. and Helen Bowers. Kay is survived by her husband of 67 years, Calvin Bock; daughters Carol Dolata (Randy) and Kristyn Godlew (Mark); brother Don Wirth (Linda); grandchildren David Dolata, Kathryn Warden, Joseph and Jennifer Godlew; great-grandchildren Ella and Emi Dolata; and nephews Jeremy Wirth, Hank, Neil and Bill Bock.
Kay spent her childhood and high school years in the Chicago area, then attended Michigan State University, where she graduated with a degree in early childhood education and met her future husband, Calvin. They married in 1958. She spent several years teaching in Pontiac, Farmington and Utica Public Schools, and was a dedicated supporter of Utica High School Band Boosters.
Kay and Cal spent much of their life together at "The Farme," their beloved country house (and family getaway) near Argentine. Kay loved welcoming family and friends to this idyllic spot for marathon visiting sessions that always included plenty of catching up, sharing and laughter, often punctuated by cavorting children and barking dogs...and food - lots of food! Kay delighted in keeping everyone well fed; her molasses cookies and Christmas candy are legendary.
A devoted fan of Michigan State athletics, Kay seldom missed her alma mater's televised football and basketball games. It's rumored that her Saturday afternoon cheers for the Spartans still echo down the halls of Vicinia Gardens, where she and Cal last resided.
Kay's warmth, outgoing personality, generosity and devotion to family and friends will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her. Her family expresses heartfelt gratitude for the skilled and loving support of Cheri Ducsay, Jennifer Godlew, the Med Team Hospice, and the staff and residents of Vicinia Gardens.
Services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Kay's service will be live streamed and may be viewed below her obituary. Pastor Tim Chappell officiating. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of the service.
