Jeri was born June 12, 1952 in Detroit, the daughter of Ferdynand Joseph and Mary Jane (Klembecki) Kotz. She was united in marriage to Dennis Edward Doyle in 1985 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Blanc. They celebrated 31 years of marriage before Denny's passing on June 25, 2016.
After graduating from Lake Fenton High School, Jeri attended U of M Ann Arbor where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Architecture and her Master's Degree in Education "Go Blue". Jeri worked for 30 years for Walled Lake Schools, teaching at Pleasant Lake Elementary in West Bloomfield, and Dublin Elementary in Union Lake. She retired in June 2010. Jeri loved being an elementary Art Teacher and was loved by her students and colleagues. She was even teacher of the year one year! Her mentor and friend was Carol George of Fenton. She will be greatly missed by all of her wonderful colleagues and friends from Walled Lake, especially Beth Chatt, Darrel Losh, Paul Huber, and many others including her dear friend Andy Lossing.
Jeri traveled extensively to Europe, North America and Bois Blanc Island every summer to camp, celebrating her 25th visit this past summer. She will miss all of her Bois Blanc family. Jeri also recently purchased her new Florida retreat for winters only. She will miss her Citrus Park family. Jeri was such a special person, the way she would walk into a room with her calm, quiet, loving voice, she would make everyone else feel at peace. She literally would light up the room with her smile. Jeri was a kind, generous, humble woman. Even when her own life had obstacles, she always tried to help others to overcome their obstacle first. She was always the first person to offer to help anyone in need, even people she never met personally. She had a heart of gold. Her faith was so strong that she once said about 5 years ago "I believe more in Jesus Christ than that the sun will rise tomorrow" Jeri was an amazing artist and her artwork is on display at Diplomat Pharmacy Main Campus in Flint and also at Holy Redeemer Elementary in Grand Blanc. The joy of her life were her two sons Ian Joseph and Andrew Edward, both of Grand Blanc. They are both U of M graduates "Go Blue". She is survived by: her two sons, Ian Joseph Doyle and Andrew Edward Doyle; two sisters, Kathy Anderson and husband Jim, Janie Kotz-Hill-Gordon and husband Richard; nephews, John Joseph Hill and wife Shireen and their son Avyn, Michael Anthony Hill and wife Hilary Sample-Hill; 7 brothers and sisters in law; 22 nieces and nephews, their children; many special friends; and her sweet dog Ginger and lovely cat Smokey. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfunerahomes.com. The family would like to give special thanks to her sister in law Mary Williams, RN for coming out of retirement to be her private duty 24/7 nurse, bless her! She's gone to the Lord and Heaven now has a new art teacher and is a brighter place.
