Jerris "DON" NELSON

NELSON, Jerris "Don", age 71, of Flint, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit. Funeral services will be 1:00PM Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Christian Apostolic Church, 6350 Fenton Rd., Flint. Pastor D. Larry Spooner officiating. Interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be 12-8 Monday at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society. Don was born July 28, 1941 in Stonewall, Arkansas the son of the late Robert and Anna (Thompson) Nelson. He married Lennie Jo Wing on June 27, 1963 in Flint. Don was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1961 to 1964. He was employed by A.C. Spark Plug for 19 years, until his retirement in 1996 Surviving are his wife of nearly 50 years, Lennie; three daughters, Dawn Nelson and Sheri Nelson of Flint, Kaye Zaruba of St. Helen; six grandchildren, Stephaney, Robert, Anthony, Jamie, Charles, Nicole; five great-grandchildren, Adam, Nicholas, Ryan, Malaya, Kailee; two brothers, MT Nelson, Kenneth (Karen) Howe; two sisters-in-law, Buffy (Randy) Adkins, Marlene Powell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
