Marshall, Jerry Renn - Age 81, of Fenton, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2026, at his home in Fenton with hospice care. Funeral services will be held 4:00 pm Friday, July 10, 2026, at Sharp Funeral Homes, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton with Pastor Vince Slocum officiating. Visitation will be held 12:00 pm - 4:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to Lake Fenton United Methodist Church. Jerry was born on July 13, 1944, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, the son of William Marshall and Marion (Renn) Marshall. He married the love of his life, Cheryl A. Thompson, on April 11, 1964, in Virginia, beginning a marriage that spanned more than six decades. Jerry earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from Thiel College in Greenville, Pennsylvania, in 1966. Upon graduation, he was recruited by General Motors to join the Chevrolet Truck and Bus Plant on Bristol Road in Flint as a supervisor. He dedicated 33 years to General Motors before retiring in 1999. Jerry had a lifelong passion for automobiles, dirt bikes, football, and hockey. Whether watching a game, talking about cars, or enjoying time with family and friends, he appreciated life's simple pleasures. Jerry was a member of the Fenton Moose Lodge, Fenton Eagles, Lake Fenton United Methodist Church and the Methodist Men's Club. To his close friends, Jerry was affectionately known as "Rug", a nickname that reflected the camaraderie and friendships he cherished throughout his life. Surviving are: wife of 62 years, Cheryl Ann Marshall; three children, Shelly (Rod) Day, Pam Marshall, and Scott (Amy) Marshall; three grandchildren, Matthew (Jessica) Day, Sara (Tom) Caskey and Alexis Marshall; three great-grandchildren, Ryker, Jaxon, and Avery; sister, Marjorie Carter; nieces, Rhonda (Ron) Burl and Connie (Nick) Woods; great-nieces and nephews, Rayanne Burl, Ryan Burl, Jenna, Lauren, and Eric Strauss. He was preceded in death by: mother, Marion Marshall; father, William Marshall, and stepmother, Winifred "Fritz" Marshall.
