COHOON, Joan Elizabeth - Age 93, of Burton, passed away Monday, September 14, 2026. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, September 18, 2026 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc (The service will be live streamed and can be viewed via Joan's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Mr. Benjamin Evers officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Those desiring may make contributions to the Reach the Forgotten Jail Ministry, 1002 Saginaw St, Flint, MI 48502.
Joan was born February 22, 1933 in Saginaw, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Hogan) Wheeler. She was a graduate of Flint Central High School; and she attended Mott Community College. She had resided in the Flint area most of her life. She married Henry E. Cohoon May 28, 1949; and he preceded her in death October 10, 2010. She retired 1987 from Greyhound/Profit Foods after 26 years of service. Joan attended Freedom Cross Ministries; and was a former member of Faith Tabernacle Church, where she was the Assistant Office Manager. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association and the National Camping Club. She enjoyed sewing, stamp and coin collecting, quilting, and painting.
Surviving are: her children, Joni Gibson of Durand, Juli (Charles) Campbell Inman of Grand Blanc, and Wayne (Wendy) Cohoon of Swartz Creek; grandchildren, Andi Toufexis, Aaron (Kelsey) Cohoon, Donald (Shealyn) Campbell, Malcolm (Sarah) Campbell, Adam (Miranda) Cohoon, and Eric (Heather) Cohoon; 11 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; sister, Jacqueline Edgley of Scottsdale, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jean Cohoon; son, Henry Cohoon, Jr.; granddaughter, Rain Cohoon; sons-in-law, Jimmie Gibson and Malcomb Campbell; and sister, Margie Martin. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
