RADEMACHER, Joan Mary - Age 86, of Flushing, died Thursday, February 10, 2022.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday, February 14, 2022 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley St. Flint.  Fr. Thomas Firestone celebrant.  Burial 10:00 AM Wednesday February 16, 2022 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.  Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 4:30 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 PM, and at church Monday from 10 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers  those desiring may make contributions to St. John Vianney Catholic Church.

Joan was born December 29, 1935 in Lansing, the daughter of George Irvin and Cecilia Rosa (Fedewa) Gager.  She was a 1953 graduate of St. Mary Cathedral High School and received her Nursing Degree from St. Lawrence Hospital in Lansing.  She married Frederick W. "Fritz" Rademacher December 28, 1957 in Lansing and he preceded her in death March 22, 2015.  She retired in 1998 from Genesys/St. Joseph Hospital as a Registered Nurse after 40 years of service.  Joan was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister and worked on Funeral Masses and dinners.  She also worked as a volunteer at the Women's Shelter.  Joan lived a strong, loving, and giving life.  She was happiest when she was of service to others.  As a labor and delivery nurse she helped bring thousands of babies into this world. Joan loved her role of wife and mother.  She was the rock of the family.  She will be missed by all.

Surviving are: her children, Karen Gonnella of Brookland, MN, Carol Rademacher (Lee Hildreth) of Gaines, Nancy Smith (Tom McGinty) of Portland, CT, and Fred  (Teresa) Rademacher of Pentwater; grandchildren, Amanda, Caitlin, Emily, Catherine, Taylor, and Travis; great grandchildren, Emilia and Annabelle; former son-in-law, Scott Smith of Eldersburg, MD; sister, Janet Morgan of Lansing; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dr. Raymond Gager; son-in-law, Steve Gonnella.  Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
