THOMPSON, Joan Kay - Age 69, of Fenton, died Saturday, January 21, 2017. On Tuesday, January 24, 2017 a visitation will be held from 3-9 PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. On Wednesday, January 25, 2017 a visitation will be held from 10-11 AM followed by a service at Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church, 13667 Highland Rd., Hartland. Reverend Christopher Thoma officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to support the University of Michigan Brain Tumor Functional Outcomes Research Fund. This goes towards Dr. Sean Hervey-Jumper, who was Joan's neurosurgeon. She married Robert Edward Thompson Jr., March 25, 1972 in Milford. Joan was a teacher for Howell Public Schools for 37 years. She was a member of Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church. Joan enjoyed water sports, gardening, knitting, and sewing, but most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving are: her beloved husband of 44 years, Robert; children, Julee (Mark) Henry of Commerce Twp. and Jae (Heather) Thompson of Novi; 2 precious grandchildren, Lydia and William Henry; cousins, Clark and Joyce Kendall of Tulsa, OK, Dan and Vivian Stubblefield of Ashland, OR, Dianne Santerini of Taylors, SC, Wanda Willoughby of Murray, KY, and Garry and Terri Smotherman of Murray, KY .
