JoAnn (Sting) Alexander

JoAnn (Sting) Alexander- age 90, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on April 15, 2026. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, April 20, 2026 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, MI 48473 with Pastor Jim Nelson officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linden. Visitation will be held 2-6 PM Sunday at the funeral home. JoAnn was born Feb. 22, 1936 in Dexter, Missouri. The daughter of Floyd and Martha (Lucas) Sting. JoAnn met her husband John while working at Bishop Airport in Flint. They married in 1958 and shared 67 wonderful years together. JoAnn retired from Lake Fenton Community Schools after working 25 years in the cafeteria. She was a faithful attendee of Calvary Baptist Church of Gaines. You could always find her enjoying the current Detroit Tiger baseball games, even to the point of missing other events so she wouldn’t miss her baseball. JoAnn enjoyed baking and knitting. She spent many years knitting baby afghans that she then donated to various Pregnancy Centers. She was always willing to bake your favorite treats, and did so often. Always quick with a good loaf of zucchini bread and a cup of coffee or glass of ice tea. She enjoyed her Thursday & Friday coffee gathers, and the many years of hosting coffee time at their winter home in Florida. JoAnn found great joy in passing down her recipes and tricks to her children and grandchildren. Her love of just being with her grandkids…her jokes, her ideas, her stories…all precious reminders of the loving matriarch she was. JoAnn is survived by her 4 children, John F. (Doretta) Alexander of Durand, Jeff Alexander of Ocala, FL, Joe (Terri) Alexander of Grand Rapids, Julie (Will) Houghmaster of Freeport; seven grandchildren, Teresa (Brent) Porter, Ashley (Aaron) Priest, John Jacob (Sarah) Alexander, Heather (Nathan) Alexander-Leduc, Jordan (Nicole) Alexander, Bayley Houghmaster, and Allyson Houghmaster; three great-grandchildren, Riley Porter, Brooke Porter, and Eris Priest.
