John Robert GARBER

Garber, John Robert - Age 83, of Swartz Creek, formerly of Chicago IL, died Saturday, August 10, 2013. Funeral services will be held 11AM Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Sharp Funeral Homes, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Deacon Rod Amon officiating. Burial will follow in Crestwood Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will be held 2PM to 8PM Tuesday, with a scripture service at 7PM. John was born October 6, 1929 in Chicago IL, the son of the late John and Rosalie (Lehr) Garber. Mr. Garber enjoyed aerial photography and was a painter. He served his county in the U.S. Navy and was a graduate from the FBI Academy. He retired as a captain with the Chicago Police Department with 26 years of service. After retirement, John moved to Arizona and resided there for 27 years and had recently moved to Swartz Creek. John also worked for the Maricopa County Sheriff's Department for several years. Surviving are: daughter; Paula Garber of IL; grandson, Brendon of IL; sister, Rosalie and Walter Gane of Swartz Creek; nephew, Robert and Patti Martinez of Alpena; niece, Lenore and Dewayne Ross of Swartz Creek; several great nieces and nephews.
