John Francis HOLTMEYER

HOLTMEYER, John Francis - Age 98, of Fenton, died January 11, 2014. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday, January 16 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton, Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Interment in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton and 10 AM until time of service Thursday at church. A vigil service will be held 7 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to St. Vincent De Paul Society at St. John Parish, Fenton or Capuchin Soup Kitchen, 1820 Mt. Elliott St., Detroit, MI 48207. John was born May 24, 1915 in Cincinnati, OH, the son of John Joseph and Louise (Schneider) Holtmeyer. He married Elizabeth Ann Bright October 19, 1940 and she preceded him in death on April 6, 1983. John was an Engineer at GM Fisher Body and retired after many years of service. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. John is survived by: daughter Carol (Christiaan) DeSmet of Farmington Hills; grandchildren, David (Lisa) DeSmet and Marc (Nicole) DeSmet all of Vermont; great-granddaughter Arielle; brother Richard (Johanna) Holtmeyer; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his son Joseph John Holtmeyer on October 25, 2010 and sisters, Mary Dolores Pfent and Louise Hunt.
