John "Jack" Elmer Basner

Basner, John Elmer "Jack" - Age 96, of Burton, died December 21, 2023. Private services will be held at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center 6063 Fenton Rd. Grand Blanc. Private burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to American Cancer Society or Alzheimers Association. Jack was born September 8, 1927 in Gladwin County, Michigan, the son of Arthur and Edith Maude (Carnahan) Basner. He married Betty M. Davis on July 31, 1948. Jack retired from Atherton School District. He loved his tractor. He loved to make Betty laugh. Jack was a farmer all his life. He also enjoyed camping and fishing. After retirement Jack and Betty loved to travel, enjoying every state, but Hawaii, including Mexico and Canada. Jack is survived by his wife, Betty; two daughters, Claudia Heiser, Phyllis (Arnie) Jessen; three grandchildren, Candy (Matthew) Tilley, Eric (Cim) Robbins, Heath (Tiffany) Basner; seven great-grandchildren, Ashley, Joshua, Paige, Peyton, Christopher, JD, Phoebe; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John M. Basner; son-in-law, Donald Heiser; and twelve siblings. A special thank you to the nurses at Ascension Genesys.
