John Macgready

MACGREADY, John Howard -- Age 84, of Swartz Creek, died December 11, 2016. Visitation will be held 2-7 PM Saturday, December 17 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Those desiring may make contributions to Swartz Creek Community Food Basket. John was born July 8, 1932 in Detroit the son of Howard and Lillian (Hutchinson) MacGready. He was a Veteran of the U.S Air Force serving during the Korean War in Japan. He graduated from MSU with a BA in Business and a MBA in Marketing. He married Lou Arnette Dowding on July 13, 1957. John was a statistician with Chevrolet Manufacturing in Flint. He was a teacher with the Swartz Creek schools retiring with 23 years of service. He was an avid motorcyclist, enjoyed riding dirt bikes in the Pigeon River Country State Forest. He was a Mason, and a member of the American Legion. John was a member of the Genesee Valley Rotary Club. He was a member of Delta Pi Epsilon at MSU. He is survived by his wife Lou A. MacGready of Swartz Creek; son, Murray H. (Jody) MacGready of Walker; daughters, Loanna E. (Jack) Ammerman of Swartz Creek and Arnette L. Lamoreaux of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Kristy, Jack Ryan, and Jay Ammerman, Jacob and Erynn Lamoreaux, Laura Baird and Matt Lipski; 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
