MILLER, John Bernard, age 67, of Burton, died Friday July 22, 2011 at his residence. A funeral mass will be held 11AM Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 E. Bristol Rd., Burton. Interment will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery with a graveside service held under the auspices of V.F.W. 822. Visitation will be held 2-8PM both Sunday and Monday at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc Twp., and 10AM until time of mass Tuesday at the church. A rosary will be prayed 7:00PM Monday followed by a Knights of Columbus service at 7:30PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Matthew Wayne Banacki Scholarship Fund. John was born November 29, 1943 in Elmhurst, Illinois, the son of the late George W. and Anne M. (Wrice) Miller. He married Diane M. Schowalter in Flint October 22, 1966. Mr. Miller was an avid bowler, a MSU fan, and loved to fish. He served his country in the navy and was very active in the Boy Scouts Pack 266. John retired from G.M. Metal Fabrication Plant with over 30 years of service and was a member of Local 659. Mr. Miller was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th degrees, he also was a basketball and baseball coach for Holy Redeemer for many years. John is survived by his wife of 44 years, Diane of Burton; daughter, Christine (Brian) Williams of WA; son, Michael Miller of Burton; 5 grandchildren, Nicholas, Justin, Alexis Williams, Bella, Bryce Green sister, Rosemarie (Sid) Pharr of Flint; Brother-in-law, Hank Schowalter; sister-in-law, Eva (Bruce) Jackson of Swartz Creek; Sister-in -law Teresa (Phillip) Banacki of Swartz Creek; brother-in-law, Mark (Susan) Schowatler of Flint Twp., Brother-in-law Gregory (Tammy) Schowalter of Davison; many nieces, nephews and cousins; uncle Gerald (aunt Jackie) Wrice and many other loving aunts and uncles.
