MOYNIHAN, John R. -- Age 48, of Flint, died July 25, 2011. Funeral services will be 1 PM Friday, July 29 at Sharp Funeral Homes and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint, Fr. Thomas Firestone officiating. Interment in Pentwater Township Cemetery, Pentwater, MI. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday. Those desiring may make contributions to St. John Vianney School, Powers Catholic High School, or Multiple Sclerosis Society . John was born April 28, 1963 in Detroit, the son of John W. and Barbara Ann (Ronan) Moynihan. He was a graduate of Dearborn High School, Hillsdale College, and University of Toledo Law School. He had resided in Flint the past 22 years. John married Brooke Burroughs on June 18, 1994 in Flint. John was a former law clerk to Judge Thomas C. Yeotis and a valued associate at the Gault Davison law firm before starting his own practice in 2001. John had an innate sense of fairness and justice and would help people in need whether they had financial resources or not. John successfully took on legal matters throughout the State of Michigan and our justice system is better because John was a lawyer. John�s trusted and loyal secretary of twenty years, Madeline (Maggie) Anderson, helped John help people. John was a productive member of many charitable organizations and good causes and still found time to play an occasional round of golf. Surviving are: wife Brooke Burroughs Moynihan; children Katie and Ronan; sister Susan and husband Ken Oxfurth of Carmel, IN; niece Molly Oxfurth; Aunt Claire Belill; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Kathryn Burroughs of Flint; sister-in-law Jennifer and husband Kevin O'Brien of Genesee.
