PEKALA, John Paul - Age 65, of Flushing, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2024. Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek (The service will be live streamed and can be viewed via the link on Mr. Pekala's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating. Burial in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sunday from 11:30 AM until the time of the service.
John was born September 7, 1959 in Flint the son of John and Jacqueline Helena (McCallister) Pekala. He was a 1978 graduate of Bendle High School. He had resided in Flushing for the past 20 years coming from Burton. He retired from Dupont as a paint engineer after 38 years of service. John was a motorcycle and car enthusiast and enjoyed watching motorcycle and car dirt track races. He also enjoyed hockey and had been a time keeper at Dort Federal Arena (formerly the I.M.A.) for many years.
Surviving are: his 3 daughters, Adrianne (Tim) Shann, Courtney Pekala (Kori Cole), and Lindsay (Joe) Brown all of Flint; 7 grandchildren, Kloelyn, Jacob, Brady, Kason, Alexandria, Landon, and Kodey; brothers, Michael Pekala of Grand Rapids and Andrew (Lisa) Pekala; several special cousins; and his beloved dog, Bailey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jackie Pekala; 2 grandchildren, Aaron and Jackson; and another beloved dog, Brody. The family request everyone to wear their favorite Harley-Davidson tee shirt. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
