John Richard STEVENS

STEVENS, John Richard - Age 72, of Linden, died Friday, November 2, 2012. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton Tuesday from 3:00 PM until time of service at 7:00 PM. Burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 7, 2012, in procession from the funeral home at 1:15 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to the Loose Senior Center or the Wounded Warriors. John was born April 1, 1940 in Flint, the son of Charles and Marie (St. George) Stevens. He attended Sacred Heart and Northern High School. He then went into the U.S. Marine Corps. He than he received an Associate Degree from Detroit College of Business. John married Brenda J. Mitrage November 26, 1960 in Flint. He retired from GMPD after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Loose Senior Center and the Marine Corps. League of Flint. He enjoyed gardening. Surviving are: wife, Brenda; 2 children, Victoria Stevens of Phoenix, AZ and John and wife Teri Stevens of Carlsbad, CA; 3 grandchildren, Jake, Nicholas, and Jordan; 3 brothers, George and wife Emily Stevens of Flint, Charles and wife Sue Stevens of Holly, and Robert and wife Sandy Stevens of Flint; 2 sisters, Judy Stevens of Swartz Creek and Debbie and husband Dick Schultz of Swartz Creek; sister-in-law, Nancy Stevens of Lapeer; several nieces and nephews.
