Jose "Joe" Estaban LAFUENTE Sr.

LAFUENTE, Jose Estaban "Joe", Sr. - Age 69, of Swartz Creek, formerly of Burton, died December 4, 2013 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Monday, December 9 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint. Interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Saturday, 1-8 PM Sunday, 11 AM - 12 Noon Monday. Those desiring may make contributions to Autism Speaks. He was born April 17, 1944 in CienFuegos, Cuba, the son of Jorge and Maria (Mendez) Lafuente. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam era. His Army service included driving for a Lieutenant at the Pentagon. He married Judith Minnick on September 16, 1967 in Detroit. Joe retired from GM. He was passionate about classic cars, car shows, NASCAR, and enjoying time with his grandchildren. Surviving are: wife of 45 years, Judith; three children, Joe Jr. (Christa) of Clio, Steve (Connie) of Davison, Joann (Scott) Allen of Swartz Creek; eight grandchildren, Chase, Alex, Trevor, Cassandra, Jared, Brittni, Travis, and Alexis; sister Rosa Kazi.
