Those desiring may make contributions to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

Joseph was born August 6, 1944 in Flint, Michigan, the 5th of 8 children born to Kenneth and Helen (Marien) King. Joe graduated from Goodrich High School in 1962. He married Sharon (Kerwin) Ristow on December 9, 1972 in Flint, MI. They resided in Goodrich for over 54 years in the same loving home on the Mill Pond where they were able to watch the sandhill cranes, the Canadian geese, and the deer all play, and we will never forget the flowing well in the backyard. He was always a hard worker, first working at Feke and Yott Grocery store before moving on to Oven Fresh where he worked for 20 plus years delivering bread. When he left Oven Fresh he went to work at Ken's Redi Mix in Goodrich driving redi mix truck for 10 plus years before retiring. Joe's name suited him well, as he was always a jokester. If you heard one of his stories, you heard it 100 times, he definitely had the gift of gab. Joe was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Grand Blanc where he was a very faithful member. He served as a past President, Elder, Trustee and sang in the choir. Joe loved playing golf with his brother and also on the church league, bowling, and going and supporting his children and grandchildren while they played their sports. He would do Crosswords puzzles daily and would complete a Jigsaw puzzle and then pass them along for others to enjoy. As of the last few years Joe became the caregiver to his loving wife until she had to move into the Pines Memory Care home in Goodrich. Even then, he still cared for her as he went up and spent most of the day with her, only missing 2 days. Joe had a soft spot for all of his beloved pets, and his sole remaining dog, Daisy.

Surviving are: his loving wife, Sharon; his adored children, Randy (Lee Ann) Ristow of Fairfax, MN, Wendy Ristow of New Ulm, MN, Terri Ellsworth of Flint, MI, Brian (Melissa) King of Grand Blanc, MI; grandchildren, Justin (Sarah), Joseph (Chantelle), Sabrina, Amanda (Alan), Angie (Nick), Christopher, Joshua, Spencer (Brooke), and Emma; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; siblings, Kenneth (Susan) King, Charlotte (Joe) Hughes, Jerry (the late Beverly) King, Audrey (Brad) Litz, Gary Kerwin and Kent (Ruth) Kerwin; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Joe King Jr., siblings, Sandra King, Steven (Judy) King and Geneva (Hank) Krueger. Online condolences may be posted on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
