LEYANNA, Joseph Anthony - Age 93, of Flint Twp., died Friday November 29, 2019. Funeral services will be held 1PM Tuesday, December 3, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor Rob Prince officiating. Burial will follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held 11AM until time of service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Flint. Joseph was born February 16, 1926 in Muskegon, the son of David Joseph and Mary Helen (Chalut) Leyanna. He married Syble L. Winchester in Corinth, MS on August 13, 1951. Joseph proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the 66th Black Panther Division. He retired from General Motors, " Chevy in the Hole" and AC West for 28 years. Joseph enjoyed sharing about his time of service in WWII, woodworking and working in his garage, watching his favorite TV shows, and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are: wife of 68 years, Syble Leyanna of Flint Twp., children, Theresa (Mike Frederick) Webber of Howell, Rick Leyanna of Flint Twp., Trina (Jay) Pruett of Otisville; grandchildren,Chad (Debi Riggs) Driskell, Amanda (Don) Larson, Kimberly (Josh) McCoy, Joshua (Amanda) Pruett, Timothy (Kasey) Pruett, Zachary (Laura) Pruett; 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents David and Mary Leyanna and brothers David and Edward Leyanna. Tributes may be posted at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
