BIESMAN, Judith Levin - 73, of Flint Township passed away peacefully at her home Sunday July 24, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be 12 PM Tuesday July 26 at Sharp Funeral Home, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, MI with Rabbi Karen Companez officiating. Interment will follow at Machpelah Cemetery. Shiva will be held 7 PM Tuesday and Wednesday at the Biesman residence. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Morley, daughter Sheryl and son Brian (Dina), grandchildren Adam, Abigail and Michelle, brother Martin (Judith) Levin, mother Beatrice Levin, mother-in-law Pauline. She is the daughter of the late Jack Levin of Tamarac, FL. Judy was born in Detroit, attended Mumford High School and graduated with Honors from the University of Michigan. She met her husband, Morley, while they were students at the University. After graduation, the couple moved to Fort Mead, Maryland. After military service, the couple returned to Flint where Judy was a teacher. She was very active in the Flint Community, served on many boards and public service organizations including the Girl Scouts of America. Throughout her life, she enjoyed sports and exercise including tennis, skiing and especially yoga. She was an active and dedicated member of Congregation Beth Israel and the Flint Jewish community, most recently chairing the committee for the Flint Jewish Film Festival. Throughout her life, she remained an avid Wolverine fan, never missing a home football game. She will be sorely missed for her dedication to family, loyalty to friends and strong commitment to volunteer work.
