BROWN, Juliene Marie- Age 85, of Swartz Creek, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 26, 2024 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 4413 Morrish Road, Swartz Creek. Fr. Louis Ekka will celebrate with committal service following at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will take place from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday, August 25 with praying of the rosary at 6:00 PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. On Monday morning, Julie will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Humane Society of Genesee County.
Julie was born on August 10, 1939 in Flint, the daughter of the late Bernon and Gertrude (Wey) Schnelker. She graduated from St. Michael's Catholic High School, class of 1957. Julie would continue her education at St. Joseph School of Nursing. She worked several years as a registered nurse for private practices before her retirement from Flint Metal Fab. Julie and Bob were united in marriage on July 29, 1961 in Flint. Sadly he preceded her in death on March 12, 2024. Julie was a member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church. She was a prize winning quilter and enjoyed teaching her craft. Julie was a member of the Genesee Star Quilters and volunteered with the Prayer Shawl Ministries. In her free time, she also enjoyed crocheting and embroidery. She and her husband were life long bowlers and she loved watching the Detroit Tigers.
She is survived by her son, Peter (Lisa) Brown and their children and grandchildren; son, Gregory (Deanna) Brown and their children; daughter, Suzy Brown-Koepplinger; grandchildren, Joshua Koepplinger and Kyle Brown; brother, Bob; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Julie was preceded in death by her son, Paul Brown; and siblings, Jim, Hal and Mary Ann.
