Katherine "Katie" Shelley

SHELLEY, Katherine "Katie" E. - Age 95, of Flint Twp., passed away May 11, 2023. Funeral Service 11:00 AM Monday, May 15, 2023, at Sharp Funeral Homes. Miller Road Chapel 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor Jason McGhee officiating. Visitation 2PM-6PM Sunday, May 14 and 10AM Until the time of the service at 11AM Monday. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery.

She was born April 19, 1928, in Flint, the daughter of Earl and Ethel (Quibell) Hilden. She graduated from Flint Central High School in 1946 and attended classes at GMI for her college courses thru Mott CC. She married A.G. Shelley on July 26, 1947, in Flint. Katherine worked at Service Bureau a subsidiary of IBM from 1956 - 1968. She retired from General Motors in 1985 having worked in the accounting service since 1968. She was a member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine, where she played in the Ladies Oriental Shrine band. She was also a lifetime member of the Eastern Star Flint Chapter #138 OES. Since 1976, Katherine enjoyed spending the winter in Zephyrhills, Florida. She was an avid bowler, enjoyed trips to the casino, and she enjoyed spending Dad's money.

She is survived by her husband of  75 years, A.G. Shelley; daughters, Cynthia (Gary) Steinberg and Leslie (the late Michael) Sedlak; grandchildren, Amy (Josh) Carpenter, Brett (Rachal) Hanner, Matthew (Emily) Sedlak, Tanya (David) Schmieder, Tina Steinberg, and Carrie Sedlak; great-grandchildren, Braydon Hanner, Brooklynne Hanner, Blake Hanner, M'Kenzie Hanner, Dominick Hanner, and Kora Hanner, Tristyn Sedlak, Harper Sedlak, Matthew Boone, Morgan Boone, Cody Carpenter, Caelum Blair, Keegan Blair, Taeghan Blair, Travis Scmieder, Olivia Schmieder; great-great grandchild, Raylynn Carpenter; brothers, Bill Hilden and Jerry Hilden; brother-in-law, Leon "Billy" (June) Shelley; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Michael Sedlak; and siblings, Earl, Don, Everett, and Margaret Ann Manley.
