Kathryn Patricia Dimond (Bennett)

Kathryn Patricia Dimond (Bennett), age 83, of Montrose, passed away on September 9, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Kathryn was born on June 26, 1943, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Willard and Bernice (Burdick) Bennett. She graduated from Kearsley High School with the Class of 1962. On January 12, 1993, she married the love of her life, Virgil “Bud” Dimond, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Kathryn worked for General Motors Delphi Automotive Systems, Local Union 651, and retired in January 1997.

Above all else, Kathryn devoted her life to her family. Her four children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the center of her world, and there was nothing she enjoyed more than having her family together. She showed her love by taking care of the people around her, especially through cooking. Whether it was a big holiday celebration or simply an opportunity to feed the people she loved, Kathryn made sure there was always plenty of food and a place for everyone at her table.

Kathryn was incredibly kind and generous and would have given the shirt off her back to someone in need. That same generosity carried into the way she loved her grandchildren. She was a constant presence in their lives, rarely missing a sporting event and eagerly volunteering for school field trips, activities, and anything else that gave her another opportunity to be involved. She proudly spoiled her grandchildren and treasured every moment she spent with them.

Becoming a great-grandmother brought Kathryn tremendous joy. She was so excited to welcome a new generation into the family she had spent her life loving and nurturing. Family gatherings and holidays were especially important to Kathryn, and the memories created around her table and during those celebrations will remain a treasured part of her legacy.

Kathryn’s greatest accomplishment was the family she loved so deeply. She will be remembered for the countless ways she showed up for them, the traditions she created, the meals she lovingly prepared, and the unconditional love she gave throughout her life.

Kathryn is survived by her four children, Shelly Alsup, Cheryl Vuncannon, Ronald Jackson Jr., and Kelly Jackson (Brian Brackrog); her grandchildren, Bobby (Corey) Vuncannon, Katie Jackson (Spencer Tomanek), Rhyan Weible, Brittany Vuncannon (Dan Arseneault), Alayna Boitel, Savannah (Elaina) Alsup, Connor Alsup, Josh Davis, Tyler Cayer, Ronald Jackson III, and Taylor Brackrog; and her great-grandchildren, Ryker, Addison, Peyton, Bentley, Jett, Krew, Daniel Jr., Layla, Emily, Bentley Scott, and Ella.

She is also survived by her brother, Les (Cheryl) Bennett; sisters, Marie (David) Lukonen and Shelia Sutton; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Virgil “Bud” Dimond; her parents, Willard and Bernice Bennett; her sister, Beverly (Archie) McKinnon; brothers, Wesley and Joseph Bennett; and her son-in-law, Robert Vuncannon.

Funeral service will take place at 1:00 PM, Monday, September 14, 2026 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek with burial following at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, Mt. Morris. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday and again from 12:00 PM until the time of service Monday.
