Kathy J. Erway

Kathy J. Erway, age 64, of Flint, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026. Visitation will be held at 10am until the time of the Funeral Service at 12:30pm on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Sharp Funeral Homes & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road in Grand Blanc Township. Kathy was born on June 8, 1961, in Flint, Michigan to the late William & Lulu Belle (Pollington) Canfield - Zacek and raised by her mother & Stepfather Joseph Zacek. Kathy was a member of North Baptist Church in Flint. She married Gary Erway on December 8, 1978.

Kathy had a special way of bringing people together. She often hosted meals for family and friends. She was an excellent cook and instilled in all her children the skills to cook a home-made meal. She always tried new recipes and creative ways to use leftovers.

She kept beautiful flower beds and vegetable gardens in the summer. She loved to share the fresh produce from her garden. Kathy crafted many quilts throughout the years as well as potholders. If you knew Kathy, you were probably gifted a handmade potholder at some point.

Kathy loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She helped a great deal in raising her grandchildren.

Kathy is survived by her loving children, Gary (Emily) Erway, Heidi (Josh) Erway, Matthew Erway, Jeffrey Erway, Jody (Brian) Morse and Jay (Hope) Erway; 8 grandchildren, Oliver, Ryan & Carter, Jean & Josh Jr., Samantha; great-grandchildren, Faith, Alexander, Allison & Paisley.

She is further survived by her siblings, many nieces and nephews and other dear family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gary J. Erway in 2014.
