Katie Fechik

FECHIK, Katie "Big Red" (Cunningham) - Age 85, of Grand Blanc, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2015 surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, August 21, 2015 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 E. Bristol Rd., Burton. Fr. Steve Anderson celebrant. Burial will follow in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint from 11-2 and 5-8 PM Wednesday and 4-7 PM Thursday with a rosary at 7 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to Catholic Outreach, 509 N. Grand Traverse St., Flint, MI 48503. Katie was born January 19, 1930 in Flint, the daughter of Julius and Helen (Horne) Cunningham. She retired from AC Spark Plug after 37 years of service. Katie loved spending time with family and friends, especially her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted fan of the Detroit Red Wings and an avid golfer. Surviving are her children, John (Kim) Fechik, Cindy Pontello, Mike (Debbie) Fechik, Mary (Bret) DeWitt and Kate Fechik; special friend, Barb Santee; grandchildren, Kurt, John, Rachel, Kyle, Mike, Jennifer, Joel, Erica, Emily and Noah; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Owen, Cole and Lily; sister, Helen Cunningham; brother, Mike Cunningham; brother-in-law, Joe Fechik; many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Fechik. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Melissa and Sarah of Hospice Advantage for their care.
