Kenneth A. HALLWOOD

HALLWOOD, Kenneth A. - Age 82 , of Swartz Creek, died March 30, 2013. Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Saturday, April 6, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 9450 Duffield Road, Gaines. Those desiring may make contributions to Byron Youth Football Program, c/o Byron Athletic Association, P.O. Box 333, Byron MI 48418. Kenneth was born January 1, 1931 in flint, the son of Richard and Emma (Dumbler) Hallwood. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He married Mary Anne Godlesky on June 2, 1951 in Flint; she preceded him in death June 20, 2004. He retired from GMSPO. He was active in U.A.W. Local 659, and was the recipient of the Walter P. Reuther Award. He was a Teamster member. He started coaching high school football for St. Francis in Flint, and then middle school basketball. He then coached youth football in Gaines, and started the Byron Youth Football Program. He was the announcer for Byron Football for many years. Ken traveled for the U.A.W. and was a friend to many across the country because of it. Surviving are: three children, Linda and husband Bruce McClellan of Merritt, Stacie and husband Russell Camp of Swartz Creek, Kurt Hallwood of Fenton; five grandchildren, Kenny, Amanda, Melanie, Christopher, and Stephanie; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard, Leon, Jack; sister, Beverly Gillett; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Christina; great-granddaughter Kennedi Jo.; brothers Donald and Edward; and wife of 53 years Mary Anne.
