Kenneth Munsell

MUNSELL, Kenneth L. - age 91, of Gladwin, formerly of Flint, died Thursday, August 13, 2015 at his daughter's residence in Linden. Visitation will be held 10 AM - 1:30 PM Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek followed by a committal service at 2:30 PM at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI. Kenneth was born to LaVern and Hazel Munsell in Fowlerville on June 3, 1924. He married Norma Caldwell in 1947 and they had nine children together. In 1997 he married Dorothy Kelly. Mr. Munsell served in the United States Navy as a torpedoman stationed in the Philippines for a land-based unit. He was discharged from the Navy Reserves in 1957 and was a life-long member of the VFW. Mr. Munsell retired as a public school administrator working in Genesee County for Gaines Consolidated Schools and Carman-Ainsworth School District. He was a life-long teacher to his family, friends and anyone he met. Surviving are: wife, Dorothy; 8 children, Chuck (Sandy) Munsell, Connie (Richard) Ball, Marilyn (Bill) Grantham, Lori (Rod) Baker, Kelly (Helen) Munsell, Carman (Lillie) Munsell, Jess (Terry) Munsell, Roberta (Ritch) Bennett; 5 step-children, Shari (Chris) Kelly, Steve (Kelly) Kelly, Jack (Julie) Kelly, Jeff (Glynith) Kelly, Duke (Serenity) Kelly; and special "daughter", Susann Haskell; many grandchildren, great-grand children and nieces and nephews; two brothers, Stanley and LaVern. He was preceded in death by one child, Gaynell. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Ken's great friend, Matt (a young stroke victim) payable to Dorothy Munsell.
