Kirk Schabbel

SCHABBEL, Kirk Lyn "Kip" - age 81 of Fenton, died June 9, 2023. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Kip was born February 7, 1942, in Flint, the son of Alfred and Doreen (McFadden) Schabbel. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired from General Motors as a tool and die maker. Kip was an avid golfer and a voracious reader. When he was younger, he was a ski instructor in Aspen Colorado and was a backup for the US Olympic Ski Team. Kip loved people and socializing at the Rough Draft and the Barn in Fenton. Surviving are: two daughters, Heidi (Tom) Kovarik of Linden and Erica (Adam) Shoemaker of Fenton; grandchildren, Hunter Ludwig (fiancé, Ken Overall), Haley Ludwig, Rylee Morse and Tyler Morse; great-grandson, Colt Overall; sister, Karen (Terry) Gizzi; nieces and nephews; and many friends from the Rough Draft and the Barn.
