Larry Joseph Petit

PETIT, Larry Joseph - age 69, of Gaines Twp., passed away, Saturday, October 24, 2026 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Tuesday, October 27, 2026 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, MI 48430 with Pastor J.D. Weigand officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linden. Visitation will be held from 1-3 PM and 5-7 PM Monday and from 12 PM - 1 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Larry was born on January 23, 1957, in Monroe, Michigan, the son of Henry Albert and Helen Dorothy (Bunge) Petit. He married Cheri L. Hurd on July 3, 1974. Larry worked as a truck driver for Ryder Logistics in Lansing and was a member of the Teamsters. He had a passion for muscle cars and enjoyed working as a mechanic on the side. He also loved spending time outdoors, tending to his yard, and being with his beloved dog, Louie. Above all, Larry adored his grandchildren, who could do no wrong in his eyes. Surviving are: wife, Cheri; two children, Dina Petit and Matthew Petit; four grandchildren, Taylor (Garrison) Dawson, Ryan Petit, Logan Petit, and Zoe Petit; eight siblings, Linda Sutherland, Shelia Marks, Susan (Bill) Norman, Michael (Karen) Petit, Deborah Burns, Mark (Teresa) Petit, Brian (Sharon) Petit, and Lisa (Tom) Johnson; sister-in-law, Beverly Petit; many nieces and nephews.
