Laverne R. POTTER

POTTER, LaVerne - of Corunna, MI, was called home on January 4, 2013. Services will be held 11: AM Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with Mr. Mike Rushing officiating. Interment will be held at Yerian Cemetery in Durand. Visitation will be held from 1-4 and 6-9 PM Friday at the funeral home. He was born November 30, 1934, the only son of Raymond and Blanch Potter, both deceased. Married Dolores Iser on June 25, 1955. Together they had three children, Terry Rushing, Bryan Potter, and Kelli Abuan. He had 6 grandsons, (Kyle, Zach, Isaac, Jonah, Evan, and Jake) and 5 granddaughters (Jillian, Isabella, Lauren, Chloe and Ella). Preceding him in death were his sisters, Evelyn Jones and Pat Black-Smith, and also a very special step-dad, Charles (Bud) Meredith. He graduated from Utley High School in 1954 and served 4 years in the Army from 1957 -1961. A member of the U.A. W. Local 599. Employed by Buick Motor Division for 43 years as a skilled tradesman. He was a member of Church of Christ for many years, and had a deep love of God, family, and good friends. His hobbies included lawn and gardening, caring for farm animals, fishing and hunting.
