Lawrence A. Feinstein, age 92, of Flint, peacefully passed away on May 19, 2025. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the chapel of Machpelah Cemetery, located at 4615 Branch Rd, Flint, MI 48506. Rabbi Yisroel Weingarten will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to The Ben and Marcia Atchison Occupational Therapy Endowment Fund (https://secure.wmualumni.org/s/give?funds=EAOT) or to a charity of one's choice. Larry was born on September 4, 1932, in Flint, to William and Rhoda (Cohen) Feinstein. He married Rita Shapiro on April 6, 1952; she preceded him in death on July 31, 2006. Larry dedicated over 40 years to selling furniture in several local stores, including Ace Furniture, Peoples Furniture, and Smith Furniture in Ypsilanti. An original "road warrior" salesman, he enjoyed driving and traveling throughout his life. He was deeply involved with Congregation Beth Israel and Machpelah Cemetery, serving on the Chevra Kadisha and acting as Shomer from the funeral home to the cemetery for many years. Larry and Rita played a vital role in the Russian Jewish Resettlement program through Congregation Beth Israel. A defining moment in his life came when he took a life-changing trip to Israel, returning at the age of 80 to celebrate his Bar Mitzvah. Larry was known for his quiet humility and his love of history, particularly the history of Flint. A man of language, he taught himself Russian and enjoyed fishing and tinkering with cars in his younger years. He is survived by his two daughters, Gail Feinstein of Columbus, OH, and Marcia (Ben) Atchison of Kalamazoo; three grandchildren, Katie (Wally) Kwiatkowski and Heidi (Garry) Valentin and Benjamin Feinstein; six great-grandchildren, Lauryn, Sophie, and Sam Kwiatkowski, and Lola, Lucy, and Lucas Valentin; as well as several nieces, nephews, and many friends. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, William and Rhoda Feinstein; his wife, Rita Feinstein; and his son, Jeffrey Feinstein. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Woodhaven Senior Community in Flint for the amazing care and friends he made there, also Hurley Medical Center and Hurley Cardiac ICU for their compassionate care. Friends are invited to share an online tribute at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
