PETERS, Lawrence W. - Age 68, died Saturday, March 8, 2014. V.F.W. Military Honors will be held 8:00 PM Friday, March 14, 2014 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd, Fenton. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday from 6:00 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Larry W. Peters Athletic Memorial Fund c/o Rosemarie Peters (this fund will allow children to attend sporting events that normally would not be able to attend them). Lawrence was born November 22, 1945 in Port Huron the son of Elmer G. and Frances M. (Haller) Peters. He grew up in Yale and then moved to Flint where he graduated from Beecher High School in 1963. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Army, receiving two Purple Hearts. Lawrence married Vivian Hamilton August 1, 1970 in Flint and she preceded in death November 27, 2012; he then married Rosemarie Miller August 21, 2013 in Burton. He retired in 2006 from GM V-8 Engine Plant after 42 years of service. Lawrence loved his family and was a kind and gentle man. He was fond of sports and sport stadiums. Surviving are: wife, Rosemarie; son, Mark and wife Elizabeth Peters of Swartz Creek; father, Elmer Peters of Arizona; sister, Pat and husband Jim Bruner of Arizona; 2 stepdaughters, Renee Zientek of East Lansing and Kerrilynn Miller of North Carolina; 2 step grandchildren, Liv and Quincey Zientek; niece Diane and husband Jarrett Volzer; great-nephew and great-niece, Justin and April. He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Peters and his first wife, Vivian. Online tributes may be posted on the obituaries page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
