September 22, 1911 — June 12, 2003

CONROY, Leo Garrett  Age 91, of Gaines/Byron, died Thursday, June 12, 2003 at Owosso Memorial Hospital. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10 AM Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Gaines with Fr. Robert McKeon officiating. Interment will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-5 and 7-9 PM Monday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. A rosary will be prayed and Knights of Columbus Service will be held at 7:30 PM. Visitation will also be held 9 AM until the time of mass Tuesday at the church. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund. Mr. Conroy was born September 22, 1911 in Mt. Pleasant, the son of James and Edith (Emory) Conroy. He married Dorothy Eileen Cooney on September 7, 1931 in Angola, IN. Mr. Conroy retired from Grand Truck Railroad, as an Engineer, in 1976 after 30 years of service. Mr. Conroy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Brotherhood of Railroad Engineers. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #12186. Surviving are: wife, Dorothy Eileen of Gaines/Byron; daughter, Lauretta Ann and husband, Gerald Bradley of Durand; three sons, John Robert and wife, Nola of Filmore, CA, James Edward and wife, Delores of Swartz Creek, Dennis Leo and wife, Virginia of Holland; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: five brothers; two sisters; son, Joseph Michael; five grandchildren. Friends may share their online condolences with the family at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
