Leon Fitch

FITCH, Leon D. - age 92, of Swartz Creek formerly of Flint Twp., passed away, September 2, 2019. Funeral services will be 12 PM Friday September 6, 2019 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek.  Pastor Alan Duce officiating. Visitation will be 10 AM until the time of service Friday. Interment in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, Mt. Morris. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to Springvale Memory Care.

Leon was born August 26, 1927 in Arkansas, the son of Ruddie and Pearl (Jarvis) Fitch. He married Barbara Abernathy in Flint on August 10, 1948. Leon served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during WWII at 16 years of age. He later proudly served in the U.S. Army. Leon was employed as a Machine Repairman with GM for 32 years. He retired in 1979. Leon enjoyed gardening, fishing and square dancing with his wife Barbara.

Surviving are: his beloved wife of 71 years, Barbara; children, Steven (Sheryl) Fitch, Cathryn Walden; grandchildren, Greg Bevil, Barbara (Jason) Bevil-Gould, Jennifer Blackledge, Jeremy (Christine) Fitch, Christopher (Amy) Fitch, Andrew Fitch; and several great grandchildren.
