Leona Dye

DYE, Leona Elsie- Age 87, of Flint, departed this life Thursday, July 20, 2017. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday July 24 at Kingdom of Heaven Ministries, 2430 Dutcher Rd, Flint, MI 48532. Dr. Lonnie Brown officiating. Burial in River Rest Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be 3-7 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Home, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek and 10 am until time of service at the church on Monday. Leona was born February 21, 1930 in Flint, MI the daughter of Leo and Mary Miller Sr. She graduated from Dye High School in 1948. She decided to train and become a flight attendant early in her 20s but eventually hired in General Motors instead. It was there that she met her husband Dennis Dye Sr whom she loved and spent 24 years with up until his death in 1983. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who spent a lot of time enjoying her kids and supporting them in every way she could. She loved listening to music and playing her Steinway Piano, and anyone who knew her might get a chance to hear that talented side of her. She loved planting flowers, shopping, traveling, walking outdoors and enjoying looking at the beauty of nature and trees. She is survived by daughters, Dani Lee Dye, Rebecca (Ricky) Brown; stepdaughter Juan Smith; grandchildren, Ciarra (Phillip) Sanders, Alicia Brown Shalayna Kemp, Ashley Brown; great granddaughter, Summer Sanders; 2 brothers, Robert (Ann) Miller, Leo(Marie) Miller Jr; sister in law Annie Mae Dye many nieces and nephews, grandchildren, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dennis Dye Sr., 2 sisters Eileen Hunt, Marlene Miler, stepsons Dennis Dye Jr, William Anthony Dye, stepdaughter Juanetta Redwine 3 brother in laws, Joe Willie Dye, Tommie Dye Sr., Donald Hunt., sister in law Annie Lee Colbert.
