Leona Eichelberg

Leona Eichelberg, age 106, of Fenton, passed away September 24, 2026.

Leona was born October 3, 1919, in Leola, South Dakota, the daughter of Christopher and Paulina Rueb. On September 23, 1939, she married Arnold Eichelberg. Together, they farmed 1,100 acres, growing grain and, primarily, raising cattle.

Following her husband’s death in 1985, Leona moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where most of her siblings lived in their later years. In 2011, she moved to Michigan to be near her only son, Dwight Eichelberg.

Leona enjoyed gardening and devoted her life to her family as a homemaker and farmer’s wife. She was also an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

She is survived by her son, Dwight Eichelberg; grandchildren, Brent Eichelberg, Annmarie (Blaine) Walker, and Carey Eichelberg; and great-grandchildren, Eden, Elle, Evia, and Hawke.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ernest Rueb and Melvin Rueb; sisters, Freda Kelley and Luella Blake; and daughter-in-law, Marlene Eichelberg.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Courtyard Manor of Fenton for their compassionate care and dedication to Leona.

Leona will be laid to rest beside her husband in South Dakota.
