Leona June ROOT

ROOT, Leona June -- Age 87 of Flint Township, formerly of Lennon, died October 22, 2013 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 4PM Friday, October 25, 2013 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor Patrick Stybert officiating. Visitation will be 1-4PM Friday. Those desiring may make contributions to Parkinson's Foundation. June was born July 9, 1926 in Wilsonville, Ill. the daughter of Leon and Effie Pearl (Bond) Sawyer. She married Asa Root on February 11, 1945 and he preceded her in death on March 27, 2010. She was a member of the Lennon United Methodist Church and VFW Ladies Auxiliary as well as a Volunteer at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Corunna. Surviving are: four children, Jacqueline (Raymond) Bolt of Flushing, Janet (Rod)Wetherell of Fl. Keith (Debra) Root of Flushing, Gayle (James) Hadley of Grand Blanc; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Dempsey ( Lois) Sawyer of Gillespie, Ill. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and son, Gary Root. A Special Thank you to Homestead Care staff at Woodhaven.
