Lois Ann PRICE

Lois Ann Price, 60 years old, died on July 28, 2013. After her valiant fight with breast cancer in 2006, Lois' battle resumed in January 2013 with stage 4 breast cancer that spread to her bones. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through 6 more months of grueling Chemotherapy and Radiation. Not all super heroes need capes and this strong woman was the epitome of a super hero. Her strength and determination led her to not let cancer her hold her back from what she wanted to do. Through the pain and fatigue she was determined to go to the birthday parties of her grandchildren, come to do the survivor lap at the Relay for Life the very next day after a chemo treatment, and to make it to the beach at Leisure Lake. Lois was born on October 27, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan to Arthur and Josephine Iverson. Sister to Steven, Allen, Marvin, Doris, and Raymond she loved getting together with her family. In 1970, she met her one true love, John Price and they just celebrated their 42nd anniversary in February. In 1972, her daughter Jennifer was born, followed by John in 1976, and Michael in 1978. Growing up, some of her children's favorite memories were going on vacations to Lexington and the mandatory trip to the General Store, the U.P. where we had to eat pasties, going to the Smokey Mountains, and going to see the Niagara Falls for the millionth time. She was the most loving mother that any child could have and she gave everything she had in motherhood. She was the lady on Donna Street who gave popsicles to every child on the street and threw elaborate birthday parties in the back yard. She instilled strong values and faith in her children and the bond in our family that will carry on until we see her again one day. Above all, she wanted grandchildren and never let that be a secret. In 2003, her first two grandchildren were born with Haley and Gracie. Later in 2004 Seth was born. Lana came in 2007 and Austin in 2008. No one loved their grandma more than these children. Grandma/NANA was the spoiler. Candy and goodies were plentiful, Santa could not compete with her abundance in gifts, and going to Grandma and Grandpa's was always an exciting outing. As her sign on the door mat read, "what happens at grandma's stays at grandma's." After her first fight with cancer, she traveled extensively over the next six years. Trips included Hawaii three times, Vegas, Florida, Alaska, Cruises, and all over the United States. Lois loved her church and was always volunteering her time. She loved to cook and bake especially her world famous lasagna, Christmas cookies, and the Thanksgiving feast many times throughout the year. She looked forward to her bargains and loved her Kohl's discount especially when she got her 30 percent. She loved to knit and making scarves became her therapy. Frankenmuth was one of her favorite destinations especially the chicken dinners. She loved Soaring Eagle and the casino trips. Bingo, garage sales, Rod Stewart, Neil Diamond, and All My Children were some of her favorite passions. She was a darn good bowler and was proud of her trophies. Her kind soul made her everyone's friend. She was the person everyone went to for advice. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, giving selflessly, will never be forgotten.
